There have been a couple of casualties at recent psychobilly events.
One was the unfortunate and sad drowning of a 17 year old in the hotel pool following the Hollywood Showdown. There have been differing reports of what actually transpired, however, all accounts seem to indicate that no foul play was involved. This was a tragic accident. Our condolences go out to the family. This was not at the venue or at any function related to the Showdown, but I know that several attendees were aware of this and it really makes me sad.
The other occurred at a Zombie Ghost Train show, this is from their myspace:
"MAN STABBED AT ZGT VEGAS SHOW
Sydney band Zombie Ghost Train are currently finishing up a 2 and a half month tour of Europe and the USA. Last Wed 5th of September, their show was cut short when a fight broke out in the crowd and a man was stabbed in the neck. Police were soon in attendance and the venue was shutdown. The man is in hospital in a stable condition. Despite this set back ZGT have had an amazing tour culminating with a show to a packed house in Hollywood on Saturday. Zombie Ghost Train return to Australia next week and will be hitting the East Coast with Germany psychobilly kings Mad Sin in October. Their new album "Dealing the Death Card" has been released in Australia, Europe and USA."
This pisses me off. Coupled with the fairly recent death at the Meteors House of Blues gig and this is becoming a problem. Psychobilly in this country has been, for the most part, immune to this sort of brutal behavior. In Europe there is a little history like this, but nothing here so far. Can't we all just get along?
Seriously, is it really worth it?

This is indeed a problem us Psychobilly musicians have indeed noticed happening alot more lately. With the overall attitude kind of taking a dump, I strongly feel that the atmosphere and attitude that originally made the music what it is has been either A)taken way too seriously B)blown out of wack. Having played this music for well over a decade, I have seen this wave of what I call 'scary' psychos- as in you don't know if they are gonna slit your throught or not after the show. Hell if I know what is making it this way, pop culture??? media??? I don't know, but all I do know is if this keeps up, venues will eventually not allow our shows anymore. And all you hate rap right??? Yeah, it's kinda going down the same road. So lets not become the laughing stock, ok??? More than likely, some stuck up KID will comment on here saying I'm lame, but so what . . . I've been around this world doing this for longer than you have prolly ever heard of this music. So who knows more than who now???
