"The Rebels are going to tour again! It's not going to be full time (of course Jakob's busy school schedule and family comes first), but after the incredible time we had at our AZ and CA dates, we all agree that it's time to dust off the ol' van and hit the road again. We're also (finally) making serious arrangements to get our asses into the studio and record some new material for you folks! We'll be releasing an EP of some of our newest songs by the end of summer and will be recording the long awaited second full length next year. Everything pretty much revolves around Jakob's school schedule right now, but bear with us....he's almost done!

On a side note.....Nate would like to personally thank all of you who've been listening to (and passing around) the Doomsdayers demos that were passed out at the AZ and CA shows! The response has been AWESOME! The Doomsdayers will be touring by Fall so be sure to catch up with them as well! Stray Cats Farewell Tour

...And they just came back!

The Stray Cats are one of my very favorite bands, and the group who introduced me to rockabilly before I even knew that there were different kinds of music! I was 4 when I first saw the video on MTV for Stray Cat Strut, and the memory stuck! Here I am 24 years later and still mesmerized.

Brian Setzer has announced that there will be a farewell tour in the not too distant future on his website, BrianSetzer.com. No further details, like dates, have yet been added, but I'll keep my eyes open.

I've only seen them once, at the original reunion gig at Hootenanny, but it was awesome and well worth suffering from the 105 degree heat. I skipped their shows last summer because I had no interest in seeing the Pretenders or, in Dallas, Don Henley. Now I just hope they'll swing through here on their way out the door.

Pineda Psychobilly Meeting

"That's right lotsa news, semi-important stuff.

Besides the "usual" shows and tours there's a 7inch in the pipeline with unreleased songs, that could see the lights in the future. Also we're in the studio next Friday to record two songs for two different "tribute" CD's. One's a Elvis Presley one for a South African Label I think and the other's gonna be a Groovie Ghoulies tune for some German Label called Kamikaze. Both records should be out this year.
Also there will be a PLY DVD with some live stuff from the "Bound for the Bar-Tour". Too bad that the show they filmed and recorded was the one where the night before I broke some ripps, which means it wasn't my best ever since I couldn't hardly move and was high on painkillers and shit. Oh well, haven't seen it yet but....
Oh yeah by the way, thanks to all the people that came to all the shows we did last year. We had some good ones and met some new friends and bands like SAINT ALVIA CARTEL, THE FLATLINERS, PETER PAN SPEEDROCK, ANGEL CITY OUTCASTS or MAD MARGE AND THE STONECUTTERS. Check out those bands if you haven't done already.
We already started to write new stuff for a new record but drop us a line if you wanna hear some of the old songs live and we might relearn some.

Tiger Army News

First of all, the most interesting news:

"Geoff Kresge has returned as the stand-up bassist for Tiger Army -- this is a name that will no doubt be familiar to Tiger Army fans, Kresge performed all live shows with the band from 1999 to mid-2004, as well as performing on the band's second and third albums. Jeff Roffredo has left the band as a friend, to pursue other interests.

Kresge says, "I don't think people understand what a difficult decision it was for me to make when I left the band in late 2004, or that it may or may not have been for the reasons that the fans have heard or read about. Being given the opportunity to rejoin the band is an exciting prospect!" Nick 13, Geoff Kresge and James Meza hit the road in the U.S. this week, check out Tourdates for ticket links and all other info..."

Yes, Geoff has returned to Tiger Army. I'm glad that if anyone takes Roffredo's place, it is Kresge. They both added something very crucial to the show and the records. Apparently Roffredo is now playing bass for LA reggae act The Aggrolites. I'm not a huge reggae fan, but these guys are just a good band. I think this is more where Jeff's heart is at this point anyway, he's been a huge reggae/rocksteady/ska fan for at least the last 9 or 10 years that I've known him, and most people don't realize that he's probably played with more reggae and related bands than psychobilly ones. I expect he'll turn up with something new for the psychos before too long, but for now, I wish him the best. I now have a good reason to check out The Aggrolites live!

Geoff returning is definitely going to add something to Tiger Army's live act that more recent fans will be lucky to see. He has always been the band's biggest cheerleader on stage and has a great stage presence. I'll be seeing all of them on Tuesday, and I'm super excited.

In addition, they've announced some more dates in Japan, including the Tokyo Big Rumble, and some Australian dates. Here is the current tour schedule:

Massacres Update

"Greetings to you all, fellow fiends and ghouls!

Just a quick update to let you know that The Massacres will be heading into Mystery Street Recording Studio the weekend of the 5th and 6th of January to record a new EP, tentatively titled 'Redemption' (although this may change). If all goes to plan and on schedule, this will be released through Bouncing Betty Records, based here in Chicago and will be our first vinyl release! I am thinking that we will be including CDr copys with them too, so at least you can hear what it sounds like, as we appreciate that not everyone has a vinyl player (even some vinyl collectors!). We are still undecided on how many tracks we want to put on there, but rest assured that our 2 newies 'Love You To Death' and 'Six Thousand Miles' will be on there. Stay tuned for more info on this release.

Massacres are currently taking a break after a rip-roaring finish to 2007 with the Beat Kitchen show supporting our good friends from Detroit - The Koffin Kats. It was a killer show and had a great turn out, its always cool to see everyone out at the all ages shows and if we keep it up, it may increase the frequency of all ages shows in Chicago. We shared the stage with our boys Johnny Murder and the 25 to Life, who have come on leaps and bounds. This band is going places, remember where you heard it first :) Love Donut, anyone?

We'll be taking a rest for a wee while, but thats not to say we won't be doing things, we are writing new material for a second album (2 tracks which are on the upcoming EP) with others already in the raw stage, and revamping some merch here and there, and also some new stuff too, so keep yer eyes peeled. We won't be doing any live shows for a little while either, as January marks the arrival of my baby boy, so I will be getting used to the role of 'dad'. This is a very exciting time for me, and somewhat scary, as this is unchartered territory. Watch out for Massacres 'onsies' coming soon lol!

On that note, I think that just about covers everything. Have a fabulous New Year, and we'll see you for more horror in 2008....

"It's been a while, but here's some news! The Cenobites have a new line-up. Dimitri and Voleli are still in the band. New are Nik on drums. He used to play in Cellar Zombies. Rudo is from the I-Rejects and plays the guitar.

The Cenobites have a new mini CD called Blue Fandango. 6 tracks video recorded at Waterfront studios in Rotterdam. The album is released by the Belgium based Drunkabilly records.

Hell's Bent On Rockin': A History of Psychobilly

There is a new book on the horizon due next month from Craig Brackenridge, author of "Let's Wreck". The book is titled Hell's Bent on Rockin', and while I haven't been able to dig up too much info on it, I know that it comes from Stormscreen Productions and is due in November. Here is one of the most recent postings from the Myspace blog of Stormscreen:

"The new book is scheduled for release in the first week of November. The full title is "HELL'S BENT ON ROCKIN': A HISTORY OF PSYCHOBILLY". The cover is on the Amazon site now (though it is not the final proof) and their page count may not be exact but is certainly a chunkier read than LET'S WRECK. I started reading through the complete manuscript on the bog but couldn't even finish the first two chapters before my legs went numb and I lost all feeling in my arse.. which I think signifies a fairly substantial read!"

Sounds interesting, "Let's Wreck" was a bit on the light side, so if there is a more definitive history coming up, I'm all for it. There will no doubt be some things left out, but I have high hopes.

"Yes, now it is official: the anniversary album is out on nov 9th in Germany

and on nov 12th in the rest of Europe on People Like You,
in the States in the end of nov on Hepcat and in Japan at the beginning of December.

CD 1 includes 7 brand new tracks, 2 rare b-sides, some cover versions and pretty unknown material and CD 2 the Live in Hollywood album produced by Moses Schneider and two live video clips!!!

A lot of pix from 87 to 07 and liner notes written by Koefte deVille himself will be held in the booklet. The digipack version will also hold a limited badge and one more track!

"Mad Sin Australian Tour POSTPONED!!

Its words that all psychobilly fans throughout Australia never wanted to hear, but due to circumstances beyond everyones control the tour has been postponed due to practical complications.

All parties involved tried everything in their power to make this tour go ahead but were unsuccesful....But the boys will def be coming out early 2008 as it gives everyone involved more time to organise and

fix these problems at hand.

Both the band and us here at Creepshow Promotions wish to apologise to all those out there who have been counting the hours that Mad Sin grace our shores, though like stated above its a problem that is out of everyones hands but will be fixed asap for a fresh new tour in 2008.

We are currently working out ticket details and refunds for all you fine people out there who bought tickets to the shows. We are hopefully going to organise a way for you to exchange your tickets for the future shows in 2008.

DATES OF THE MEETING: 24th to 30th of June, 7 nights
DATES OF THE FESTIVAL: 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th of June, 4 nights festival.

Some of you already know thatàà..as we announced in 2007 psychobilly meeting program, we wanted to move the whole event to another town, the festival is getting bigger and bigger and we needed a better venue , we found the help we were looking for in Pineda de Mar, next town to Calella. The new venue it will be on the main beach in a big tend . We will keep the beach bar as meeting point during the day as is located in Pineda de Mar.

We decided to change the dates of the Psychobilly Meeting because you will get better hotel prices and good deals for flight tickets, as the high season stars in July and the weather is already sunny and hot.

We are going to update our page soon with list of Pineda hotels and prices.

Frenzy's Silver Anniversary Outlook

25 years on and Frenzy are still rockin'. They recently posted an update on their Myspace page:

"Well...we are heading into Autumn 2007 and we are starting to get prepared for 2008 which is FRENZY's 25th Anniversary year . We have a lot of stuff planned and we are currently recording our new album . The album title is ''In The Blood'' (at the moment anyway ) and is sounding GREAT. We are so chuffed with the songs we have written and the sound is more 'Neo'. We are also in the process of editing our new DVD . We have done a lot of filming...interviews , live stuff and promo footage etc.. and we have been trawling thru our extensive historic archive going right back to our founding year...1983 !! Its gonna be ROCKIN' TASTIC !

One thing we want to do in our 25th year is a World Tour...ambitious we know and we want to appeal to any promoters and agents out there...management and everyone.........we need to network ourselves as much as possible to make this happen. We have a lot of stuff sorted already with our 'regulars' but we want to broaden our horizons .Spread the word....tell all and if you think you can help us set this project up , please leave a note , comment or message with any info you can give.

Nitro Boy will soon be licenced into the USA and that will be a great help 'cos we are fully aware that the wonderful States is the biggest market for FRENZY. From the brief ashes of Hyperjax rose A Sailor's Grave. Now of course Hyperjax have reformed and A Sailor's Grave continues along, here is some news from their myspace blog:

"So yeah... We finally got something recorded. Two tracks are up and we have some more to follow in the next few days.
We recorded them in supersonic time, just banging them all out live. We're pretty pleased with them, but oviously they are just a vehicle for letting the world know what we're about... Feel free to download them, burn them, pass them about...

We played our first show last week in Wigan. Cheers to the legions of you who turned up to support us - We've never had a crowd like that in Wigan before. Not bad for our first show! Thanks to everyone who bought shirts. And to those who missed out we will be setting up a function on here for shirts, wife beaters and the like... Look out for that in the near future.

Photos are coming soon. But rest assured, we will look fantastic on them! We had a photoshoot and will be putting some of them up here in the next few days, as well as a few live shots.

We're now looking to book shows; so if you want us to play your town drop us a line and we'll try our best to sort it. Conversely, if you want to put us on a bill, just ask and we'll most likely agree!

Recent Unfortunate Happenings @ Psychobilly Events

There have been a couple of casualties at recent psychobilly events.

One was the unfortunate and sad drowning of a 17 year old in the hotel pool following the Hollywood Showdown. There have been differing reports of what actually transpired, however, all accounts seem to indicate that no foul play was involved. This was a tragic accident. Our condolences go out to the family. This was not at the venue or at any function related to the Showdown, but I know that several attendees were aware of this and it really makes me sad.

The other occurred at a Zombie Ghost Train show, this is from their myspace:

"MAN STABBED AT ZGT VEGAS SHOW

Sydney band Zombie Ghost Train are currently finishing up a 2 and a half month tour of Europe and the USA. Last Wed 5th of September, their show was cut short when a fight broke out in the crowd and a man was stabbed in the neck. Police were soon in attendance and the venue was shutdown. The man is in hospital in a stable condition. Despite this set back ZGT have had an amazing tour culminating with a show to a packed house in Hollywood on Saturday. Zombie Ghost Train return to Australia next week and will be hitting the East Coast with Germany psychobilly kings Mad Sin in October. Their new album "Dealing the Death Card" has been released in Australia, Europe and USA."

This pisses me off. Coupled with the fairly recent death at the Meteors House of Blues gig and this is becoming a problem. Psychobilly in this country has been, for the most part, immune to this sort of brutal behavior. In Europe there is a little history like this, but nothing here so far. Can't we all just get along?

Seriously, is it really worth it?

CBGB Founder, Hilly Kristal Dies at Age 75

NEW YORK, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- It is with deep sadness and regret that we inform you of the death of Hilly Kristal, who died on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from complications from Lung Cancer. Kristal, 75, founded the legendary rock club CBGB and ran the club for 33 years. A singer and songwriter himself, Kristal opened the club to showcase "Country Bluegrass and Blues"; instead the club became a breeding ground for Punk rock. Among the many acts that called CBGB home were Blondie, the Talking Heads, Television, Living Color, Patti Smith and the Ramones. The club closed in October 2006, but CBGB continues, with a retail store in New York City and worldwide merchandise sales; in addition, there currently are plans to open new CBGB clubs in several locations. Kristal is survived by his daughter, Lisa Kristal Burgman, son, Mark Dana Kristal, son-in-law Ger Burgman, grandchildren Jenny and Adam Burgman, CBGB, and the thousands of artists and musicians who played the club. A private memorial service is planned. A public memorial will be held at a later date. "Bamboula is looking for a new drummer in the LA area for gigging, touring, recording & creative input.

Our original drummer Seanzi was an important & integral part of the band, so we're looking for more than just a drummer. We're looking for a new bandmate, a new brother & someone who can help us take our music to a new level. We need someone talented, creative, passionate & versatile. An open mind & a good sense of humor doesn't hurt either.

For those of you that aren't familiar with us, we play an intense & aggressive mix of classic psychobilly & classic punk with strong elements of everything from garage to jazz to ska to metal to just about anything else.
Influences are too broad to list & are ever evolving but include bands ranging from Batmobile - Dead Kennedys - Benny Goodman - Oingo Boingo - Iron Maiden.
We're trying to do something a little different, so you have to hear it to really know.

Stylistically we're looking for Buddy Rich meets Rat Scabies meets Josh Freese.

Good stage presence & any kind of vocal ability are huge pluses.
Previous band experience is preferred.

Denmark's great neo-rockabilly band The Taggy Tones have posted an update to their Myspace blog:

"We are just about to sign with ESP Records, and hopefully the next album "Rollin" will be out in November 2007.

Our latest studio album "Rockin" from 2003 was also released on ESP, and we think it's important once again to have full promotion in our own country.

ESP has released albums with bands like Nekromantix, Defectors, Wild Wax Combo, Powersolo ect. It's a label doing all kinds of underground music as long as it rocks

We are also thinking about doing this one on vinyl as well, as we know the vinyl marked is steady growing, and the CD will be gone in 5-8 years for sure, and the downloads will be taking over.

So, I know I posted a farewell notice from Hyperjax a few weeks ago, but today I got this in the mail:

" Hey everyone, this is Sam typing, I’d like to announce that I’ve put a new band together with a another guitartist, a new double bassist and a new animal drummer, we’ve been practicing hard playing a few songs which I wrote and sang in my last band I played in and doing pretty much the same style of loud rocking punkabilly. So lets think of a name…hmmmm. How about
“THE HYPERJAX”? Yes I’m having it!

It’s been over a month since I decided to split up the last chapter of The Hyperjax. I never thought I could continue without my long standing double bass player and friend Bob Corner. I always like the idea of an original line up or at least two left who carry the banner to the end of the line.
Sadly this is not an ideal world and peoples lives change where they can’t give it all they’ve got anymore
But I’m going to try again and go it alone because right now it feels like in my heart the right thing to do. “Pardon the ego!” I started this band a long time ago and I never gave up on it despite at times feeling like we we’re bottom of the pile. I’m doing this because I still believe there’s so much more to achieve and I’ve got the opportunity to record another album which is what I’ve had my heart set on this year and although have enough to occupy my time with besides music. Its been the music alone which is the greatest ever thing I’ve been fortunate enough to get into and at time times you feel like its all you’ve got. I’m not asking for an online standing ovation on that one, but I do hope you will give me another chance and continue to enjoy my band.
So it looks like I’m going to have to fall into the same Psychobilly category as

Loz Dolan, Nick 13, Mark Pennington, P.Paul Fenech, Chuck Flintstone, The bloke from Rezurex, Kim Nekroman, Humungas, along with many others who have been the last of their crew to sail their ships onward and upwards and good ships they still are!

Johnny Nightmare, new psychobilly from Denmark!

I hope I've not been living under a rock and missed this completely, but I just got a myspace friend request from this band. Johnny Nightmare features Dax Dragster aka. Thomas Mejer, former singer and guitarist of the Godless Wicked Creeps. In the new act he plays upright bass and sings. They have a sound that reminds me of Nekromantix and this is really not surprising since Thomas once told me that the thing that got him into psychobilly in the first place was someone playing Nekromantix first album on 45 and he thought it was completely insane! This songs are pretty good, and it is nice to hear Thomas resurface after the last psychobilly related project he had was the seemingly short lived Bull'it. Strange that the former skinhead ended up in a psychobilly band and the rest of his former GWC bandmates ended up in garage bands. Anyway, skol! Check out Johnny Nightmare on Myspace

Tiger Army "Razor's Kiss Tour '07"

Tiger Army has announced a bunch of dates for their fall tour, the list is not complete as there are many shows still yet to be confirmed, but it is the most complete list to date. One a more personal note, one of the most exciting parts of this for me is the inclusion of Said Radio on the San Francisco show. Bray band in action again Spellbound' to release third album

"Bray band, Spellbound, is to launch its third album, Eleven Deadly Sins, in Katie Gallaghers on Saturday, July 28, 20 years to the day after introducing their first album at the same venue.

Some readers will recall that the rockabilly band was regularly lauded in this paper in the 1980s in Tony Murphy's music column, On The Music Beat.

Having played their first ever gig at at a flood aid concert in Bray, Spellbound decided to head directly to mainland Europe, where their 1988 debut album, Mystical Madness, was very well received and notched up many thousands in sales, but never released in their home country.

The boys blazed a brief trail across the rockabilly and psychobilly festivals of Germany and Scandinavia before, it seemed, vanishing back into the Hellfire' woods of County Wicklow.

The original line up comprised Frankie hayes, vocals, Adrian Hayes, drums, Anto hayes, guitar, and Lar Doyle on the double bass.

They were well know faces on the music scene in Bray, and played regularly in the festivals.

As things got busier for the band they drafted in Dave McDonnell on lead guitar as Anto had other commitments.

The boys then headed to the states in 1990 for a string of shows but ass time moved on and other commitments emerged the band members married and settled in Bray and were devastated when in 1997 bass player Lar died.

Tentative moves toward a re-union were made in 2003 when guitarist friend Doyley (Klingonz, Demented are Go) contacted the Hayes brothers to inform them that copies of Mystical Madness' appeared to be changing hands on the internet for astronomical sums. If they could find a bass player, he said, he would book them some shows.

They drafted in Simon Farrell from greystones and the line-up was complete.

Returning to Europe they have played Germany, France, Belgium and Spain and have performed some small shows in Dublin's Voodoo Lounge. They have now built up a big following in Dublin.

Drummer Adrian had to bow out due to other commitments and Spellbound is now joined by Ashford drummer Bryan O'Higgins.

Now, 20 years after launching Mystical Madness in what was the Doug Inn, Spellbound returns to Bray for a trip down memory lane for both the musicians and their nostalgic fans."

Gaz Day putting together a new solo project

Thats right, straight from Gaz's Myspace page, Mr. Day wants to put together a new project, presumably psychobilly related, and put out a new solo project. Day's previous solo effort, The Gazmen, turned out an excellent EP in 1995 featuring Hodge and Alan from the Sharks and Alain Whyte, Day's Morrissey bandmate. This should be interesting, though I'm not a huge fan of Gaz's singing voice, all of the musical projects he's been involved with have turned out nicely.

So, for the rest of you who are not well versed on the muh, here's how it plays out. Frantic Flintstones have recorded five new tracks for a very limited run EP called "California Earthquake". The EP goes on sale at the Hollywood Showdown pre-party and when it sells out the initial pressing of 800, it is gone. There may be some copies at the Texas and Brazil shows, there may not. We can always hope. When I hear more about the tour dates, I'll post all the info here.

CD Review: The Rock Tigers "Oldies But Goodies"

This is a review I've been looking forward to doing for several weeks now. Before I get into it, I have some confessions to make. I'm fascinated by South Korea, its culture, its films, everything I can find about that country I devour. The one thing I had been missing was Korean music, in the films you see hints of R & B style popular music and pop music, but very little indie rock, rock n roll, punk, etc... So I wondered if it even existed, I googled "Korean Rockabilly" and came up with the Rock Tigers. They looked right but it wasn't until I found their Myspace page that I knew I had to hear this band! I managed to get my hands on their two full-lengths and decided for the purposes of this blog, a review of the latest album, released April 19, 2007, was appropriate. Their first album is more straight up rock 'n roll, but the new one is an interesting mix. Anyway, on to Oldies But Goodies!

The Rock Tigers "Oldies But Goodies"

Oldies But Goodies opens the the exceptionally rockin' track, "Run (Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die)" and this sets the tone for the record. Not every track is nearly the stomper that "Run" is, but they all follow the same high quality standards set by the opener. A good, old fashioned rock 'n roll tune with a driving beat, loud Chuck Berry styled guitar riffs and excellently traded male/female lead vocals, "Run" is everything a good rockin' tune should be. This is but one of the many American roots styled tunes on this record from South Korea's first rockabilly band. From here, the record slows the tempo for a light bouncy tune called (if my translator is to be believed) "Dance, People Dance", sort of a swingy number that could send couples spinning around the floor without too much further encouragement. Here is where the record gets interesting. It is tough to know how much influence other rockin' acts have had on the band, given the Korean peninsula's long isolation from the rest of the world, but it appears that from here on out, their style runs along very close lines with some of the best in the world. Track three is called "그무렵 우리는", which, I'm sorry to say, I cannot find anything even resembling a decent English translation of, is a fast psychobilly number recalling early Mad Heads, who are one of my favorite bands. The song is tight and fast, and even more satisfyingly melodic than those early Mad Heads tunes, they use the dual lead vox to great advantage. The album then, once again, downshifts in a song called "Oldies But Goodies" which is another swingy rockabilly song. The album careens every which way across subgenres to achieve something startling, an album that fulfills around almost every corner. Track five finds the Tigers attacking country music with a song called, as near as I can tell "For One Day" (하루쯤은), the song starts out as a Johnny Cash styled tune with picking reminiscent of the Tennessee Two, and transforms somewhere along the way into a full blown rockabilly anthem. Again, the stunning lead vocals and incredible harmonies carry along completely unintelligible lyrics to make the song catchy as hell. Following that comes the one sort of let down of the album, a song called "Daytime Of Youth" (청춘의 한낮) which is a rather formulaic rock 'n roll song with completely unnecessary horns thrown in the mix. From there on out the band continues hitting on all cylinders channeling big name psychobilly acts like Mad Sin, the Horrorpops, and Nekromantix in their lighter moments. There is no metal on this record, but a good deal of rockin' influence complimented with splashes of punk, swing, and even blues. Other standout tracks include a track that could've been on the last Horrorpops album called "Welcome To My Wonderland", a pure rockabilly number called "Saturday Night", a Doo Wop number called "Moonlight Blues", and the closer, a great song that recalls some of the more romantic Nekromantix numbers called "One-Sided Love". While it should be abundantly clear that I am deeply in love with this band, they aren't for everyone. The Rock Tigers are a rockin' band with a very prevalent pop sensibility. I know a lot of psychos prefer their music to be of the type that will never be heard by those outside the know, but, if The Rock Tigers sang in English, I don't think mainstream popularity would be out of the question. Another hindrance to some might be the language barrier, although, many bands sing in their home tongues and still have decent followings, hell, Banane Metalik even managed to get a pretty good turn out in the USA despite singing only in French. Velvet Geena, the band's female lead vocalist and one of the rhythm guitarists, also could be a vocal doppelgänger for Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, and I could see her high pitched voice ruffling more than a few feathers. All possible petty annoyances aside, The Rock Tigers are a fantastic band with a bright future. Check out their myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/therocktigers

As of right now, there is not really a good way to find this record, but I'm working on that, so as availability becomes a bit easier, I will post updates.

"After returning from a six-week European musical adventure, Toronto-area psychobilly band The Creepshow will hit the highway this month for a five-week North American tour.

It will be the first time that the group have played western Canada since a tour with The Matadors last September and will give fans in that part of the country their first taste of singer/guitarist Sarah "Sin" Blackwood. She joined the band earlier this year as a temporary replacement for Jen "Hellcat" Blackwood, who's on maternity leave after having a child with Matadors singer/guitarist Joel "Hooch" Parkins. Blackwood will be joined onstage by bassist Sean "Sickboy" McNab, keyboardist The Reverend Ginty and drummer Matt Pomade.

Wow, more Horrorpops news keeps coming up, hopefully this will finish up this story for tonight. From Patricia Day's myspace blog:

"The long road back to where it began…

Rumors has been going around for a while now about HorrorPops, some crazy, some funny, some really stupid and some true.. and for a long time we didn't comment, we just wanted to keep things within our family, work on things on our own and just be HorrorPops.
It is true that Geoff Kresge is no longer a member of HorrorPops. As you may know, at the time Geoff joined HorrorPops he had also just started his dream project, Viva Hate. This was something he had wanted to do even while he was still in Tiger Army and was one of the reasons he eventually left TA. But we came and snatched him for HorrorPops before he could dedicate himself fully to this dream. Now Viva Hate have gotten to the point where they have a good fan base, gigs lined up and after two great years with HorrorPops, Geoff now needs to dedicate his time to Viva Hate and has our complete blessings and support in this. As of Nov 2006 we went our separate ways.
At the same time NoNo decided it was time to move on to other things and to dedicate more time to her family whom she missed constantly on tour. She had given us a heads up about her departure for some time, so we already had a good friend ready to step in and practice the song with Kamilla. Her name is Rita, she's from Philly, one hell of a tough chick and we can't wait for you to meet her.
Kamilla was determined to stay as a dancer in the band, but at the same time as our upcoming tour dates has drawn closer, her different projects also has become more time consuming. Finally last week she let us know that she no longer could continue touring with HorrorPops, but needed to concentrate more on the projects she's been working on and also would like to stay at home more than our previous touring schedule has allowed. Kamilla will still be involved in HorrorPops and has offered her help with finding a new dancer or teaching the dances.
It has been hard for everybody to make these decisions, but it was important that it was our decision as a band and friends and important to us that we weren't influenced by others demands. We are still all the best of friends, as we were when we started, and will continue being as we go on. Please respect that we kept this a family matter for a while, but we're sure you understand and we all hope we have your love and support in these matters.

So we took the long road back to where we started in '96… a three piece band, just Kim, Henrik and Patricia and that's how we went in the studio earlier this year. As a touring act we will of course still have dancers, after all we do enjoy to put on a show. But writing as a three piece again took us back to the feeling of our first album Hell Yeah and we're sure you'll recognize that both in the music and also in the titles ex: HorrorBeach pt2… There's also a follow up on Where They Wander called Boot2Boot and it is a dedication to the last squatted house in Denmark which got f@3ked in the ass by the state a few months back.
The new album is titled KissKissKillKill and was set to be released the 10'th this month. However, contrary to most believes we are on a small indie label with small budgets and we would have ended up competing with to many major releases. Together with Hellcat we decided that we would postpone the album and give us self some time off and do some small fun tours. The first of these will start in the end of August and will get posted as it gets confirmed. Here are the ones that are confirmed so far:

"HorrorPops are auditioning for a new dancer!

We’ve all gotten quite a few mails etc saying “if you ever need another dancer, I’m the one”, well now is the time if you really mean it!

We will be having an audition in Los Angeles on August 1’st and we’re looking for a female (sorry boys) between 21 and 100, willing and able to tour anytime anywhere even though the money often sucks and who has a lot of self irony and humor (very important!).

All you need to do is to email (no myspace mail or comments!) your picture, your contact info including mail and phone numbers, your age and a line or two about who you are and why you would like to be a dancer for HorrorPops to: Horrorpopsaudition@yahoo.com before July 28 and we will get back to you about location and time.

If you are asked to come to the audition you need to make up and perform a dance to a HorrorPops song of your choice. If you know a HorrorPops dance or part of it, we would also like to see that.

Geoff Kresge leaves Horrorpops to focus on Viva Hate

"Geoff Kresge is no longer a member of HORRORPOPS.

In early September 2004, it was officially announced that I, Geoff Kresge, had left TIGER ARMY, the band for which I had played the upright bass with for several years. I left the band on good terms, with the intention of pursuing other interests - namely dedicating more time to DEAD BODY RECORDS (an independent record label I helped launch), despite what the internet rumor mill may have you believe. Lawyers and "red tape" caused their share of difficulties with getting much accomplished on that front - not to mention a few headaches - so within a few weeks, I had a new band called VIVA HATE put together as a means to fill my newfound spare time. Shortly thereafter I was asked to join HORRORPOPS as a songwriter and guitarist.

I co-wrote the second HORRORPOPS album, BRING IT ON, with the rest of the band and toured for the entire touring cycle of the album. This left me precious little time to dedicate to VIVA HATE, which I had started BEFORE I joined HORRORPOPS with the intention of making it the primary focus of my energy. My thought was that I would have enough time between HORRORPOPS tours to get VIVA HATE up and running. I was wrong. I felt as if I was letting the other members of VIVA HATE down by not having the time to dedicate myself to the band and after a while I began thinking about leaving HORRORPOPS to focus 100% of my energy on VIVA HATE. By the time HORRORPOPS played the last show of the BRING IT ON Tour, just before Halloween 2006, in Long Beach, CA I had fully made my mind up that this was the end of another chapter in my musical career and that it was time to move on.

Dedicating 100% of my creative energy to VIVA HATE also meant that I would no longer be able to continue with my label, DEAD BODY RECORDS, so somewhere along the way, I quietly sold my share of the label and walked away from everything that came along with that project, including producing recordings for other bands.

Thank you to the friends and fans that have continued to show their support for these, and all of my creative endeavors. I honestly appreciate it. I hope that you will all continue to give me the benefit of you support through this change as well.

I am currently in VIVA HATE.

I am no longer a member of HORRORPOPS.

On a personal note, Geoff is a friend and I wish him luck, so far everything he's touched has been golden and I think Viva Hate is his most personal project to date. I can't wait to hear some recordings. I also want to say that I really respect Viva Hate's dedication to getting out and playing shows before releasing a record, I think that in today's psychobilly scene, far too many bands have records before paying their dues. From the ashes of Brazilian madmen Os Catalepticos, a new band has formed. Sick Sick Sinners features Vlad again on vocals and guitar and former Os Cats drummer Cox on bass. The band is currently in the studio laying down tracks for a new album. Specifically, Cox is tracking the bass parts. No word yet on a release date. This should be an exciting one, I'll keep you posted.

Ex-Hyperjax form A Sailor's Grave

Following up on a previous blog entry regarding the dissolution of Hyperjax, an announcement from Hyperjax myspace:

"As most of you know, the Hyperjax went their seperate ways a few weeks ago after deciding it was the best course of action.

However, all members of the band had intentions of continuing making music, and so are getting involved in new projects.

Bob, Cooley and Manning have formed a new band called A Sailor's Grave and are joined by ex-Hyperjax drummer Wally P. Parkinson.

The band is in its early stages yet, but after a few rehearsals things are starting to click and we're all pretty excited about venturing into new territory. As of yet we have not recorded anything, but plan to do so in the forthcoming months.
